Certifications

Hey All, This has been a nice little escape from work and everything going on in the world today. I wanted to just post about certifications in the IT world and my experiences with earning them. My last post talks a little about my work experience and I when I was with my first employer, I found myself getting a little complacent so I decided to start looking into certifications. I already had a broad scope of knowledge in Windows Server, ESXi, Cisco Networking, and some others. I wasn't entirely sure where I wanted to start. I knew enough about networking, but figured I should get a little better at it. I started my certification path with the CCNA. This one was a tough one. I really liked Cisco and the command line complexity you can add to pin down security and advanced features of routers and switches. My only regret was not doing this one sooner. I took the certification test in two parts. Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician This part wasn't too bad, just a l

Starting out in the Technology World.

Hey, All! If anyone starts reading this soon.. I figured I would start with where I started and what I've done over the past few years to get where I am at now. I first started in IT in between my Junior and Senior year in college as an Intern. I was Help Desk. It gave me a great understanding of what I had been learning while studying towards my degrees. I found it to be a pain at times, but you learn a ton from it. First Post

Hi All, So I created this blogger to start documenting some IT experiences. I will give a little background on myself, where I started my career, what I've done during my career, and what my personal goals are over the next year or so. I do a lot of cloud based management and security implementation particularly with Office 365, Azure, and Cisco Meraki. I plan to post some "How-To's" while working on some of my projects and the issues that come up with some of those projects. I also want to have a place for myself to document and record some of the "IT Things" that I do. Hopefully, someone will find some of it useful or maybe not. More to come soon! - John
